The Stone is a new church officially launched in Sept 2025. It’s an all volunteer and an all hands on deck kind of church. While we don’t have room to cover every volunteer who makes up The Stone, here are a few of our key leaders and volunteers.

Sam came to Clarksville TN with one mission in mind: Plant a new church full of authentic people and begin to change lives one or a few at a time.

Sam has been called a "Nerd for the Lord" by his friends, and it fits. He loves his family, hiking in the woods, super heroes, collectibles, reading and writing fiction. He has an M. A. in Apologetics from Luther Rice University. He has served in multiple ministry roles including 5 1/2 years as a senior pastor before feeling called to launch The Stone.

Currently Sam drives a school bus so he can work for free at The Stone. He says he does this to “Fund his ministry habit.”

Sam's short testimony in his words. "I grew up knowing that God existed, that Jesus was God, and I knew there were things I should do and other things I shouldn't do. I felt great pressure to do good, but knew I was failing it as I got older. In high school I heard a gospel presentation that finally helped grace click for me. I never could be perfect, I could never save myself, I couldn't even pay God back for being good to me. I could only submit to Him, and then He would save me. It was a great relief to me. I dug in to verify that God and the bible were true. Now I tell folks I'm a Christian because I'm convinced it's true. I have been sharing with others ever since, because I want them to know the truth that can set them free."

When Sam felt led to move across country and focus on reacing the unchurched and starting a brand new church, Heather, and their two children joined him in holding hands and praying about it. After prayer it was a whole family decision!

Heather is an Occupational Therapist, has a heart for special needs children, and is almost, but not quite, as nerdy as her husband.

Martin helped load the moving trailer before the Sears left California. He was introduced to the Sears through a mutual friend, and eventually found himself following out to California.

Sam describes Martin as a “workhorse.” You’ll see him behind the sound booth most Sundays and might think he is quite at first, but when you hear him share at Men’s group you realize just how much Martin knows about God’s word and life.

Jeremy and Tabby were among the first people to visit an interest party and then sign up to help launch the Stone.

Jeremy is a hands on servant who leads the maintenance and security ministries, helps with men’s ministry, and more. Tabby schedules volunteers, operates our Facebook and more.

These two are likely some of the first people you will see when visiting The Stone.

Daniel visited an interest party and caught the Vision of The Stone. He quickly joined our mission to Seek Shape and Send, and brought with experience as a ministry intern.

Daniel fills in for Sam in the pulpit on Sunday mornings and leads a small group. His wife drums and they bring their 3 youngest children with them faithfully.

Daniel says, “Sam’s the bus driving teacher, and I’m the truck driving preacher” when he shares his heart from the pulpit.
